Seattle Greens were out, despite the blustery weather, to protest the Citizens United Supreme Court decision on its second anniversary, Jan. 20 2012.

Help Plan the Future Course of Your Green Party in 2012!

On Monday January 23rd, we’ll elect the new members for our 2012 Coordinating Council. All current Seattle Greens members are eligible to volunteer for the coordinating council, which is a one year term from january 2012 to january 2013. Attend this meeting to learn more about how the CC works, how you can help, and our plans for 2012! Hope to see you there.

Our next monthly membership meeting will be held Wednesday Feb 1 and feature speaker Brita Butler-Wall (a former member of the Seattle School Board) and a discussion concerning how to run successful Green candidates for local offices in our current political climate.

Fundraiser for Mothers for Police Accountability January 7, 2012

The Green Party of Seattle hosted a fundraiser for Mothers for Police Accountability (MFPA), an organization headed by the Rev. Harriet Walden. Rev. Walden is a tireless worker for justice and fairness in Seattle.

The fundraiser featured Rev. Walden, who gave update on the state of her organization and its activities, and was co-hosted by Joe Szwaja and Aaron Dixon (former Green candidate for the U.S. Senate). All the money raised went directly to MFPA.

Where: The house of Joe Szawja and Debra Morrison, 2021 NE 75th Street in Ravenna.

Seattle Greens support Occupy Olympia Nov 28th!

Green Party of Seattle members join the Occupy movement to peacefully protest further budget cuts in Olympia Monday Nov 28th.

Some members of the Green Party of Seattle will be participating in the Occupy Olympia action during the special session of the state legislature beginning on November 28th. We will strongly oppose the budget cuts being put forth by the governor and legislature while countering them with proposals to end outrageous corporate loopholes and to fund programs for those in need, as well as education and jobs for the 99% majority. All of those participating are very committed to non -violence and all of our actions will be non-violent under all circumstances.

We will be leaving at 8 AM from Seattle Central Community College with Green Party banners, signs and supplies (food, drink, sleeping gear etc.) to help ourselves and our brothers and sisters keep going. Green Party of Seattle members unanimously agreed to endorse the Occupy Seattle and the broader Occupy Wall St. movement at our October 5 meeting. Seattle Greens agree that the 2 corporate parties are not representing the interest of citizens. The 99% should work together to take our democracy back back from the corporate elite. We encourage Greens and all Seattle citizens to join and support the protestors in every way possible. See you at Westlake!

UW WALKOUT in support of OCCUPY SEATTLE: Wed. Oct. 12, noon on Red Square

In support of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Seattle there will be a Seattle city-wide student walkout on WED. At UW, College Greens are helping student organizers conduct a peaceful walkout at noon when they will meet at the Broken Obelisk on Red Square. We will leave for downtown at 12:45pm on buses and bikes. At 2:00pm we will join other campus walkout groups and the Occupation at Westlake Park for a gathering of voices and a rally.
