In support of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Seattle there will be a Seattle city-wide student walkout on WED. At UW, College Greens are helping student organizers conduct a peaceful walkout at noon when they will meet at the Broken Obelisk on Red Square. We will leave for downtown at 12:45pm on buses and bikes. At 2:00pm we will join other campus walkout groups and the Occupation at Westlake Park for a gathering of voices and a rally.

I was very fortunate to meet some of Seattle’s active Green Party members and now my hopes for a better country are strengthened by knowing these good, conscientious, smart, engaging and funny people are working for the vision. This better world “vision thing” is crucial as a compass heading when directing an organization. Just imagine how effective this can be when each and every one of us is powered by an honest to goodness reliance on rule of law, respect for private property (this means independent sovereign nations) and above all a real commitment to peace at every turn. I walked away from my meeting lifted with the sense the Green Party Seattle builds a platform on this kind of vision- this hope for a better world. How can I support the good work coming from The Green Party of Seattle? This is a question I will ask many times in the next few months. As social justice finally becomes a household idea and the web informs us all in real time, the positive changes coming about are in no small way indebted to this very dedicated group of good people.
